"Taking a moment to recommend Next Step and the delightful broker Meena Ziabari. She did an amazing job of negotiating with the landlord to put all kinds of riders on the lease. She also followed up with the landlord afterwards to make sure he actually enacted them, which she was in no way obligated to do. Next Step also takes you around in a car to see the apartments (at no extra charge) which makes the process way less stressful."

She really listened to all the things that were important to me and thoughtfully considered these things when putting together the list of apartments we saw during our appointment. "After I had a terrible experience using a different company, a friend recommended I give Next Step a try saying that he had only heard great things. I listened, and I’m glad I did — I had a great experience with Next Step Realty. I worked with two realtors, Katie Thiele and Michelle Calogero. Unlike the other company, both Katie and Michelle actually listened to my apartment preferences and showed me apartments that matched these preferences. While viewing apartments, they pointed out the pros and cons of each space they showed me, they helped me think about how I could arrange furniture, and they weren’t pushy in trying to get me to settle for something I didn’t really want! I unfortunately didn’t get the apartment that I had applied for during our first time out, but Next Step was super helpful with continuing the search, sending me new listings when they popped up, and ultimately taking me on another whole day tour before I found another apartment that I loved. I also liked that they didn’t lose touch as soon as the lease was signed, they checked up to make sure everything was going smoothly a few days before key pick up, and checked in again after I moved into the apartment to make sure that there were no problems. I would definitely recommend Next Step to a friend, and am so happy with how nice they were and how smoothly they made looking for apartments"

"Meena Ziabari was super helpful and friendly throughout the entire apartment hunting/getting process! It was my first time moving out of state and Meena made me feel really comfortable and gave me a great overview of the neighborhoods and places that were around each apartment. Although moving (and finding a place to live) can be stressful, Meena was there every step of the way to help and occasionally (when I need it) providing moral support from start to finish. It was a great intro to the city and I’m super happy to have been able to work with Meena and Next Step! I found a great place in Williamsburg and love it!"

"My roommate, Melanie, and I had one of those apartment hunting roommate experiences that you pray never happen to you: our third roommate ended up pulling out of our first apartment and we had to postpone our search another month with just the two of us. Mary Kirby was literally a lifesaver. First, she was COMPLETELY understanding of our situation and really took the time to find us a bunch of apartments that met our needs (and were actually under budget!). Second, she helped us find a little nook that we now call home. We couldn't be happier with our place, our location, and Mary's help through it all. Will definitely recommend to all our friends in the future!"

"My girlfriend and I are really happy we worked with Next Step Realty. We reached out to them one week before our scheduled apartment hunting trip in NYC and they were able to match us up with a broker the same day we arrived. During the week, Next Step Realty helped us get comfortable with the NYC apartment hunting process and made sure we had all of the necessary paperwork in order to put in an application quickly once we found an apartment we liked. Our broker, Alec Murphy, did a great job of locating and taking us to a wide range of apartments in our price range. He was very involved in the week leading up to our tour, reaching out to landlords of apartments we found online that looked interesting, and we appreciated that he let us know when he felt a listing we found was overpriced. He also went above and beyond when it was time to submit an application. He was able to get us into the landlord's leasing office Friday night to put in our application and texted us Saturday morning to let us know we had been approved. He was also able to negotiate a move-in date two weeks later than what the landlord was originally asking for, to minimize the time we had to carry two leases at once. Overall we were very pleased with Alec and Next Step Realty, and would recommend both to anyone relocating to the city."
