"My roommate Emma and I came to Margit Weinberg and Next Step Realty in March 2016 to help us look for an apartment. Both Emma and I had worked with Next Step in the past (with Margit as Emma’s broker), so we knew that we, in spite of us having a semi-tight deadline, we could rely on Margit/Next Step to help us secure the perfect place. Margit worked tirelessly during the search, answering all of our emails and texts in a timely, professional manner and ensured that she understood exactly what we were looking for in terms of location, budget, layout, etc. Even after we had applied for an apartment in Chelsea and ultimately decided that it was not the right fit, Margit was not only patient/quick to reassure us that we would find something better, she cleared her schedule and took us to see apartments on the Upper West Side the very next day. The first apartment that we saw was in a great location, but the bedrooms were on the small side and the windows in one of them looked into another apartment in the same building. We were initially a little apprehensive as we knew this apartment would be one of the bigger/nicer units we would see that day, but Margit coaxed us to keep an open mind about the next apartment on the list and sure enough, when we walked in, we knew we had found our new home. It was bright and sunny with huge windows, high ceilings and an arched hallway with beautiful moldings typical of the Upper West Side. It was also perfectly located between two different subway lines with close proximity to both Riverside Park and Central Park, restaurants, bars, dry cleaners, etc. It was unanimous: this was it. Margit immediately took us back to the office to fill out/submit the application. She called the listing agent on the way back to see if he would come pick up the paperwork that same day once it had been completed (he came by within the hour after Emma and I had left the Next Step office). We then only had to wait a day and a half before Margit came back to us with the good news: we had been approved and she was able to negotiate the price down, as she has a great working relationship with the landlord. She then accompanied us to the lease signing and texted us the day of our move to make sure that everything was going smoothly and she was thinking of us. I think I have made it pretty clear that the level of dedication Margit shows to her clients is above and beyond. She was so friendly, helpful, professional and thorough. Needless to say, Emma and I were very pleased with the outcome of working with Margit and Next Step. I would recommend Next Step to anyone, regardless of how long they have lived in the city, their budget, their parameters. All of the agents are so personable and they truly make it their mission to ensure that the stressful, tedious and, for lack of a better word, pain-in-the-butt apartment search goes as seamlessly as possible. "As a fresh graduate moving to New York City from Richmond, Virginia, I was absolutely unfamiliar with how apartment hunting works in NYC. Richmond is a small town and apartment hunting is a straightforward process and fairly easy. I am working with a company that partners with Next Step Realty to assist its employees in finding housing in New York. I was paired with agent Meena Ziabari, who is absolutely amazing and helpful throughout the process. I set up an appointment and flew to NY for a day-long apartment tour. It was an extremely productive day and she showed a lot of units in different areas of NY with criteria that fit my description and budget. "I recently found my new apartment through Next Step Realty and had a great experience in all aspects. My realtor Katie showed me 10 places, all were great, and I would have lived in each one. I could tell that she really put hard work into setting up the showings and coordinating the day when she showed them to me. She knew the area I was searching in very well and acted not only as a realtor but a neighborhood tour guide. When finding apartments in New York City you will almost always have to pay a realtor fee, so why not pay someone who worked hard for you in finding your next home."

"My roommate and I came to Next Step after doing a bit of apartment searching on our own. We couldn’t have been more pleased we did. Matt Bauman, Erin Wilson, and everyone at Next Step was so incredibly helpful, accommodating, and enjoyable to work with and be around. Matt found us numerous apartments while also working with our requests to see places we had found on our own. He was available at all hours for our absurd questions and worries, and worked tirelessly with us to actual secure our apartment and make sure everything went smoothly with the application process and beyond. He was our advocate and liaison at every step and we truly don’t think we would have survived the process without him. Everyone else at Next Step was amazingly helpful and accommodating too. We seriously felt like everyone had our best interests at heart the entire time–something that definitely can’t be said for all NYC real estate brokers and companies. Cannot recommend highly enough!!!!!!!!"

"I had the BEST possible experience working with Victoria – both me and my mother (who’s lived in and around NYC her whole life and is a real-estate nerd) went in with what we considered realistic expectations, and were totally blown away! The apartments we saw made it clear that Victoria had really listened to my wants/needs and had zero agenda of her own (something I’ve unfortunately dealt with in the past). Really can’t recommend Victoria and Next Step enough – from start to finish, the process was smooth and even enjoyable. Victoria was super responsive whenever I had questions, and even checked in to see how the move went. I found my apartment on our first tour and moved in days later – I’m so happy in my new place, and will absolutely look to Next Step when it’s time to move again!"
